Fall 2022 Real Estate Courses

I’ll be teaching two! These are considered “blended” courses. That simply means that you study a portion of the material online, independently. Your independent study is supplemented by mandatory workshops. Many describe it as “the best of both worlds!”

The Sales Agent Course is the “getting started course” — one of the requirements of qualifying for a Maine Real Estate License. The Associate Broker Course is taken after you are licensed as a Sales Agent.

Sales Agent Course

In-person workshops start on Saturday, October 15, 2022, meeting for four consecutive Saturdays. You should be registered at least one week prior to the first workshop to complete prework. Study on your own during the week, then join me and your fellow students in the classroom for four action-packed workshops. In just about a month you can complete the 55-hour pre-license course.

Associate Broker Course

Starting on Friday, October 14, 2022, there are four consecutive in-person workshops. You study the concepts and topics by yourself, then come together with other learners and me for four workshops to collaborate on case studies, solve problems, and discuss the real-life issues you face as a licensee. You should be registered at least one week before the first workshop to complete your prework.

Even if you’re already licensed, check out It won’t help you pass the test but it should help you become successful!

You can be a star!

Are you a happy alumni of a real estate course?

The Real Estate Learning Group is soliciting feedback about their courses and instructors–ideally from folks who would be willing to participate in a short video testimonial.

Thanks to technology and editing, we can even promise to make you look good and you’ll get final approval of the results.

If you’ve taken a course and loved it (and me!), let’s talk about it! We have several options ranging from recorded video and audio to written testimonials with a photo.

I know you’re busy with real estate transactions, so we’ll even mention your agency if that’s okay. Somebody once said, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity!”

If you can spare a few minutes and are interested, just let me know! We’ll make it easy and fun! Questions are welcomed!

“I have to give a huge shout out to our teacher Walter. He thoroughly knows his material and the way he explains things makes is much clearer than reading from a book alone. He went above and beyond to assist in areas I was struggling with and was extremely prompt on answering emails. He also was very encouraging. I am not sure I have had a more sincere, encouraging well informing teacher in my life.”

Fall is coming…

Learning Opportunities are coming too!

And with it the requests for information about learning opportunities. Do I even need to start with the “challenging times” things? Let’s jump right into where things stand.

Real Estate Related Courses are scheduled through November. While the dates and days are a little different, I’m basically teaching both the Sales Agent and Associate Broker Courses in both Augusta and Bangor. You can view my course calendar for details or visit The Real Estate Learning Group Website.

Speaking of learning opportunities, I’ve recently added several “instructor pages” for real estate students. You can start with the general page which links to pages specific to each course. And, no, you do not have to be registered for a course to access the pages.

Substitute Teacher Workshops are currently in the works and will likely be available in Dover Foxcroft, Newport, and Pittsfield, probably in September and October. Details should be available in the next week or two. We can agree there is likely some uncertainty how subbing might work this fall in view how districts will approach opening.

If you’ve taken a course with me in the past you’ve likely heard me say there are two answers to any question that are never wrong. “I don’t know” and “It depends.” If you ask me what subbing will look like this fall, I’ll use them together. “I don’t know! It depends!” But I do know that the concepts and techniques in the Substitute Teacher Workshop will continue to be important.

Suicide Prevention Workshops will again be offered in conjunction with the Substitute Teacher Workshops. The workshop I teach is research-based and content is provided by NAMI Maine, so it meets the requirement of LD 609 that all school employees have at least 90 minutes of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Training. Note, however, these workshops are open to all.

Publications and Writing have, I’ll admit, suffered seriously since early spring. I had hoped to release a book this fall but slid it to the back burner in lieu of other priorities driven by COVID-19. I think we’ve all recently had the opportunity learn, as the saying goes, “Life is what happens while you’re making other plans!”

Some Fall Opportunities

Upcoming real estate courses include the Sales Agent and Associate Broker Course in Augusta and Bangor.

We’re offering a FREE workshop/forum for folks who are curious or interested in substitute teaching in Newport and Pittsfield.

Our Substitute Teacher Training Course is available in Dover Foxcroft, Newport, and Pittsfield.

The Suicide Awareness and Prevention Workshop is scheduled in Newport and Pittsfield. (We hope to add a workshop in Corinna soon.)

If you have questions, let us know! Note that registration for specific courses and workshops is done with the course sponsor.
